About to Leave for Peru!

"All our bags are packed, we're ready to go." We're sitting here waiting for our chauffeur (Cindy Lawrence) to take us to church where we will board a van to the airport. Hopefully other team members are also ready.

Our team has been preparing for months, but in the last week Satan caught up to us. The area of Peru we are traveling to has been having flu, and we have no vaccines. This news has deterred none of the team, we all agreed to anoint our hands often with hand sanitizer. Our team members have experienced back pain, and illnesses. We believe the Lord will have us all in good shape by our flight time.

Please pray for travel safety. We leave Charlotte for Miami at 5:00 pm, then we leave Miami for Lima, Peru at about midnight. We are all looking forward to sleeping on the plane--NOT! We will arrive in Lima in the morning. Peru's time zone equates with US Central time. Later on Saturday we fly on to Arequipa.

Pray also for ministry. We start medical ministry right away, later in the week we visit an orphanage. Pray that we will be sensitive to the needs of people we meet along the way and at our destinations.

One research project we must not forget to document is whether the water vortex spins down the drain the other way in the southern hemisphere.

I want to add a little comment for anyone reading this for the first time. This blog is what I saw, heard, felt, tasted, smelled and experienced in whatever way it came. I heard an interesting report on why we forget. It said our brains get so much input every second that we can't possibly process it all so our brains filter what is important to remember. This blog comes through my filter; it is not everything that happened, it is only what my filter allowed me to remember. Other members have their set of experiences that are equally true and accurate. Team members, please chime in with comments to complete and/or correct the picture of our ministry in Peru.

  3. I declare, Kurt, you missed your calling! You should have been a comedy writer. No, I'm not poking fun at your blog. I find it very interesting as well as entertaining. Have you been taking cold medicine again? : ) You and Judy be safe and remain well. We're praying for you guys and the rest of the team.
